A few years ago, I was at a local spa, enjoying some much-needed relaxation before my upcoming 3 day event.
At the end of my treatment I was in the locker room and a woman was looking for a hair brush that she thought the spa provided. I shared with her that in the years that I’d been going to this spa I never saw hair brushes there. I happened to have an extra one in my bag, so I offered it to her.
We struck up a conversation, and I found out she was also a local to the area —which is rare because 80% of people going to the spa are tourists.—
This woman’s name was Barbara. I asked her what she did for work, and it turned out she was a therapist and astrologer.
We chatted for a bit, and I invited her to my 3-day event that was happening in just two days' time. I didn’t hear from her but to my surprise she ended up showing up the morning of the event.
After that event she became a client for several years, invested over $20,000 in my programs and we’ve become long time friends now.
We've been supporting each other in our businesses and personal lives ever since, and I'm so grateful for the chance encounter that led to our connection.
That's the beauty of connections - they can come from the most unexpected places, and when we're open to the possibilities, incredible things can happen.
So, what can we learn from this story?
Be open to Connections. First of all, it's important to be open to new connections, even in unexpected places like a spa locker room.☺️ You never know who you might meet and what kind of impact they might have on your life or the impact you might have on theirs.
Take Action. It’s important to take action and invite people into our lives. If I hadn't invited my new friend to my event, we might never have become such good friends and business colleagues. Don't be afraid to extend an invitation to someone you've just met - it could be the start of a beautiful connection.
Pay attention to Opportunities. Staying mindful and receptive to unexpected opportunities can unlock doors you never even knew existed. If we aren't aware of them, they will pass us by. But when we're open and aware, we can act on those opportunities and make magic happen.
Nurtures those connections. Cultivating and maintaining relationships is crucial for long-term success and happiness. My friend and I have been supporting each other in our businesses and personal lives for years, and it's made a huge difference in both of our lives.
