Networking events can be intimidating, especially if you don't know anyone in the room. That was my initial thought when I heard about a networking event at a consignment shop about an hour's drive away. But something inside me said to go for it, to put myself out there and see what happens. And boy, am I glad I did.
As I entered the consignment shop, I was greeted by a friendly face who directed me to the event area. I was nervous but excited to meet new people and hopefully make some connections. And that's when I met her, the woman who would become one of my most successful clients: Georgette.
She was a dog trainer struggling with time management, trying to juggle her business and personal life. We struck up a conversation about the challenges of running a business, and it was clear that she was passionate about what she did but was struggling to make it work. As a business coach, I knew I could help her solve her problem.
We exchanged information and went on with our day, but I couldn't stop thinking about our conversation. I knew I could help her, and I was determined to do so. So, I reached out to her, and we scheduled a VIP day together.
The VIP day was a success. We spent the day going over her business plan, setting goals, and creating an action plan. It was clear that she had a talent for dog training, but she just needed some guidance and accountability to make it work. And that's exactly what I provided.
Since that VIP day, she has become an example client who grew her revenue to more than 3 times what she was making. She was an example of how much you can grow your business with the right support and guidance. She went from struggling with time management to having a streamlined schedule and a thriving business.
All of this was possible because of the power of connections, networking, taking action and being open to possibility.
If I hadn't attended that networking event, I never would have met her, and she never would have become the success story she is today.
My key takeaways from that event:
Saying yes to yourself can lead to unexpected opportunities.
Taking action, even when you're nervous or don’t feel like it, can open doors.
Showing up to events (online or offline) can help you make valuable connections.
Trusting the process can lead to magic moments and success.
Attending networking events can lead to meeting potential clients, partners or collaborators.
Going alone doesn't mean you're alone, there are people out there who can help you.
So, if you're on the fence about attending this Friday's April 21st The Courage To Be Connecting With Intention Event or any other mixer, I urge you to go for it and I invite you to come join me.
It's an opportunity to meet new amazing women, make connections, and potentially find the support you need to take your business and relationships to the next level.
Don't let fear hold you back from the success you deserve. Take a chance and see what happens.
