This Caught Me Off Guard

This week, I had the incredible opportunity to sit in a class led by one of my clients, Rikki, and the experience was nothing short of eye-opening. I’ve always believed in supporting the people who support me, and one of my business philosophies is to give business to those who trust me enough to work with me.

That’s why I jumped at the chance to attend her Impact Storytelling workshop, eager to see the magic she was bringing into the world.

Little did I know, this experience would turn out to be more impactful than I could have imagined. As someone who has spent years helping women own their worth, overcome their fears, and develop healthier relationships with money, I’ve always been aware of the potential we hold when we step into our power. But hearing firsthand stories of the transformations that take place in my own clients’ lives never fails to touch my heart and remind me of the deep ripple effects of this work.

One of the most unexpected moments of the class came when another client of mine, who has been with me for over seven years, stood up to share her story. I had no idea she was going to speak about the impact our work together has had on her life.

Her story took me by surprise—not because I wasn’t aware of her journey, but because she had never spoken so openly about her transformation, and certainly not in a public forum like this.

She began by talking about the first investment she ever made with me, which was attending one of my retreats. At the time, she had just gone through a divorce and was feeling deeply alone. After being the breadwinner for over 20 years, she was left with only $3,000 in her bank account. The weight of her circumstances—the shame of the divorce, the isolation, and the fear of financial instability—was almost too much for her to bear. Despite everything, she decided to take a leap of faith and put herself in a room full of supportive, uplifting women.

That decision was the beginning of a profound transformation.

As she shared her story, I could hear the emotion in her voice. She described how being in that retreat, surrounded by women who were committed to their growth and healing, was a turning point in her life. At a time when she felt at her lowest, she found herself in a space where she could be vulnerable, where she could share her fears without judgment, and where she could start to rebuild her confidence. The shame she had carried began to dissolve, and in its place, a new sense of self-worth started to emerge.

One of the most powerful moments for me was when she said, “That retreat didn’t just change my mindset—it gave me my confidence back.” Hearing her say that was a reminder of why I do what I do. It’s not just about the money or the practical outcomes (though those are important); it’s about helping women reconnect with their inner strength and sense of worth.

What moved me even more was hearing how far she has come since that first retreat.

She shared that over these last couple of years, she has been able to save more than $10,000, a far cry from the financial insecurity she once felt. But more than the numbers, it was her relationship with money that had transformed. She no longer worries about money the way she used to. She feels confident in her ability to take care of herself financially, and that shift in mindset has allowed her to move through life with a new level of peace and freedom.

As she shared her story, I couldn’t help but think about the ripple effect of that first investment she made in herself all those years ago. When she decided to show up for herself, even in the midst of fear and uncertainty, she opened the door to a future that was more expansive than she could have imagined at the time. And the beautiful thing is that her story is not unique—it’s the story of so many women who have walked through the doors of my events and retreats.

What struck me most about her journey was that it wasn’t about one moment or one event that changed everything. It was about the consistent, intentional work she did to keep showing up for herself. That first retreat was just the beginning, but it was a powerful catalyst. Over the years, she continued to invest in herself, in her growth, and in her healing. She kept putting herself in rooms where she could learn, be supported, and surround herself with other women on the same journey.

This story is a reminder that transformation isn’t a one-time thing. It’s an ongoing process, and it’s one that requires commitment, courage, and a willingness to keep going, even when things feel difficult. For my client, the decision to attend that retreat was the first step in a long journey toward reclaiming her confidence, financial stability, and sense of self-worth.

Her story is also a reminder of the importance of community. So often, we try to navigate life’s challenges on our own, thinking that we need to have all the answers or that asking for help is a sign of weakness. But the truth is, we are so much stronger when we come together, when we share our stories, and when we support each other on the journey.

This experience was a humbling reminder of the impact we can have in each other’s lives. It reaffirmed my belief in the power of the work I do and the importance of creating spaces where women can come together, support each other, and grow. Whether it’s through storytelling, workshops, retreats, or one-on-one coaching, the opportunity to witness and contribute to someone’s transformation is one of the most rewarding aspects of this work.

And if you’re on the fence about investing in yourself, my client’s story is a testament to what’s possible when you take that first step. Whether you’re feeling stuck, uncertain, or afraid, know that you don’t have to do it alone. There is a community of women ready to support you, to cheer you on, and to remind you of your worth.

This week’s experience reinforced what I’ve always believed: when we invest in ourselves, the return is so much greater than we could ever anticipate. It’s not just about financial gains—it’s about the confidence, freedom, and peace that come from knowing we are worthy of success and abundance.
